The Listening Virtual Choir Premiere and Single release

Writer: Krystal MorinKrystal Morin

I was honored to participate as a singer and section leaders for The Listening Virtual Choir Project. Cheryl B. Englehardt's choral piece, "The Listening," will be released as a single and music video on February 12th, 2021. The piece was inspired by Dr. Martin Luther King's 1967 speech "Beyond Vietnam: A Time To Break Silence".

This project brought together members and friends of VOICES 21C (Boston), Concinnity (CT), Ember (NYC), ConVal High School Select Choir (NH) - alumni of the choir from when I was teaching at ConVal-, and Cheryl's In The Key Of Success musician community. The work also features Donzaleigh Abernathy (a civil rights activist, actress, and daughter of Ralph David and Juanita Abernathy and goddaughter of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.), Wes Felton ( a D.C. based singer/poet/actor/emcee born), and Damon Grant (award winning percussionist, educator and mentor).

Visit Cheryl's website to learn more information on the origins of the piece, who is involved, and historic references.
